In all, I've come to the personal conclusion that the keyboard-controlled
menus was probably a feature that caused more trouble than it was worth, as
it has caused a number of outstanding problems, some of which have no easy
fix. 

I estimate the only frequent use is to use cr to select ok in popups (I
could be wrong), and that could probably be solved much more easily and less
invasively.

I'm suggesting that perhaps this feature is best reversed if still possible.
Does anyone agree (or violently disagree)?
