Because it _is_? It is, after all, just a jumped up bastardized
pseudo-assembler for a pdp-11. With ugliness added to make life more
interesting; then there's C++....

I suppose that at least it isn't as difficult to live with as Forth,
which obtains performance by using the unwitting human brain as a stack
simulator.
