The Squeak Team

I'm pretty sure that "the Squeak team" is just another name for the "Squeak Central" group, which is described here:

I don't want to speak for them regarding Morphic, but I think it's fair to say that the work on Morphic is a long-term, gradual effort.  That doesn't mean that it's not usable right now, though.
