[OT][Q] multimedia hardware recommendation (please help)

Hi Ned.

Would the "noise" problem you spoke of affect recording quality? My
*primary* goal for this new machine is for recording stuff. I was hoping to
bypass buying traditional recording gear 4/8-track recorders and go straight
to digital, but frankly I don't know a think about recording. As I
understand it, some electronic devices can "bleed" away your analog signal,
or they can add artificial fuzz to your recording. I don't expect
perfection, but I'd like to avoid making some of the mistakes that others
have made! :-)

Thanks so much!

Unless you care about heat generation or noise level (a side effect of
getting the heat out).

I have a Duron 1200 that produces more heat than two Celeron 466's
did...
