MessageNo version of Squeak I've used (I joined the party at 2.7) has
activated Windows Dial-On-Demand. I'll have to dig out my old modemized Mac
and see what I've been missing. (-:

On my Macintosh, I can connect from within Squeak itself.

AFAIK, squeak knows nothing about modems...it only communicates with the
windows socket APIs. You will need to connect to the internet prior to
running Squeak in order to access any internet resources. Does the Mac
attempt to establish an internet automatically when calling socket APIs?

I should have noted earlier that squeak makes no attempt to connect to
the modem. This is true even when trying to load the latest code updates.
However, I just recently connected manually before entering Squeak and was
able to use scamper to download pages as well to download code updates.
The problem is related more to an inability to connect the modem not
download pages once connected. Any suggestions as to where to look?
Thanks, Tim

Hi, Tim -
This could be a Squeak error, but the same thing happens to me
sometimes because of other (eg name server) problems. Are you able to
access this page using other software?

Help:
I recently downloaded Squeak 3.0 to use on Windows 2000
Professional. I am unable to connect when launching scamper. The error
message below was copied from scamper. Could anybody point me in the right
direction to resolve the problem ? I have never had this problem when
running Squeak in any version on my Macintosh.
error occured retrieving http://minnow.cc.gatech.edu/squeak.1:
Could not resolve the server named: minnow.cc.gatech.edu
Thanks, Tim
