VM (possibly external plugins, depending on configuration chosen) and image. No need for a changes file unless you want to program in the normal manner. There is a preference setting to stop use of the sources and changes files.

_N_etscape_P_luginfor_Squeak_ only needed to run Squeak as a netscape plugin. Nothing to do with vm plugins, just an unfortuante clash of names.

Depends on what you need. Core vm can be got down to ~100kb, add plugins for file, sockets, sound whatever you actually need. If you don't need serial ports or speech generation etc, don't waste space on them.
