Ok, thanks you Bert for your patch.
Croquet works now on my laptop with 16 bpp. But it's very slow especially with the bitmaps ...

I'm using a Radeon Mobility M6 with 16Mo. glxgears says 618fps.
32bpp is not supported for Radeon M6 under Linux :-(
