There are lingering problems with network downloads (i.e. not 
detecting 404's when downloading HTTP for SqueakMap). Few of the 
places where HTTP (or other) downloads are happening check return 
values; I wonder whether we should raise an exception (rather than 
seeing random exceptions later related to returning nil or returning 
the error text if any).

We should fix this before declaring beta, IMO.
