Minor comment:

TextFile class>>defaultPlatformLineEndConvention
should have #lf as the default for Unix.

And the platform name for Unix is 'unix', not 'Unix'.

And then there's 'RiscOS' (and probably OS/2 and Amiga, maybe others).
