[TFNR][REPORT]Moving along...

Hi all!

The TFNR has gotten into a "slow phase", no sense denying it. But we ARE
going forward! :-)

This is the current status:

- Task 1 "Dangers of TFNR"

This task has delivered a proposal and the next step is for us all -
this list - everybody, to read it and holler if something seems really
off. And I only want to hear about things being *really off* or *really
important things missing*. Details can be refined later.

Read the proposal here: http://minnow.cc.gatech.edu/squeak/3534

I have read it and I like it, it is short and contains IMHO just enough
for us to move on. In one week I will ask for the approval of the other
Guides - until then, read it and pipe up if needed.

- Task 2 "Infrastructure"

This task is on-going. SM2 is in beta, and AFAIK there are no "killer
bugs" reported yet, so I am starting to consider doing the switch.

BFAV2 was not really included in this - but I am hearing good stuff from
Ken and Brent about it, so hopefully it will be timed just right - when
all the new maintainers come storming into BFAV.

The revised PI from Avi will probably not get in now, Avi is going
travelling for a month, but according to Avi it isn't that important.
SM2 has a PI name field in place and the actual PI instances will be
created using the update stream (and they are kept in a Registry class
var in PackageInfo).

Noone has yet started playing with MudPie for maintaining the
interdependencies - even though Marcus hinted he might take a stab at
it, perhaps we will just have to punt on that one unless someone else
jumps in and helps us. (hint, hint)

In short - SM2 will be going LIVE in this week I reckon, and then this
task will be declared finished by me, unless work is begun on somehow
utilizing MudPie before that.

- Task 3 "Image inventory"

This task has stalled a bit, but I have just chatted with Adam Spitz and
he will be punching out the non-Morphic stuff in a day or two. I am
hoping for Ned to get some time available and slice up Morphic in a few
nice chunks.

As always, the current status is at: http://anakin.bluefish.se:8080
login as "guest", empty password.

I am hoping for us to be able to wrap up task 3 this week. And remember
people, if some chunks are large - the maintainer(s) can always
subdivide later!

- Task 4 "Inventory followup"

This one has finally gotten some speed. Not as much as I want yet, but
at least we have quite a few candidates listed. Come on now people, this
is where we all must dig in!

Adam is keeping tabs for now on a Swiki page. If you post as a candidate
for a package - you will not be forgotten.

Summary:

- Task 1 *will* be finished this week. Read it.
- Task 2 will hopefully be finished in a week with SM2 deployed.
- Task 3 will hopefully be finished this week. Adam and Ned, go go!
- Task 4 is picking up steam and we will all turn the focus on task 4
next week when task 3 is done.
- If someone could step forward and help us with looking at MudPie and
how to use it to maintain dependencies, please email me or Marcus
Denker.

regards, Göran
