Given a test mpg3 and the 3.5.1 vm with the 1.2 mpeg plugin all  
compiled with GCC 2.95.x..
I see 45.02 frames/sec. With GCC 3.x (and a bit of tuning) for the  
plugin & VM  I get 49.50 frames/second.
This is roughly 10% frames/sec better, which is quite a performance  
leap.
