Hey, Lex. Thanks for the ideas. I've added most of them to the BFAV feature requests page ( http://minnow.cc.gatech.edu/squeak/3300 ). Please add more as you think of them!
The BFAV has been kept deliberately simple -- partly because I'm not that bright :) -- but also because I think there's real value in keeping things as simple as possible, to help people to get involved in the harvesting process.
[ provide version information in bug reports ]
I agree completely. This is something I've been thinking about for awhile.
I'd like to work with the package-versioning scheme provided with SM 1.1 ... <cough>hint<cough>
[ bug "channels" (as someone called them) that aren't tied to packages ]
Explain more, please -- this sounds interesting, but I'm not sure what you mean.
[ be able to tag the severity of bugs ]
Right now I think that severity/priority is being hashed out informally with relative ease. I think making this explicit via the UI could be useful. However I'm leery of enabling a scenario where a bug report has (for example) Priority *and* Severity *and* Fix Group fields, and we spend hours arguing about how to determine real priority.. Sorry -- flash-back from work...
[ more complete sequence of status tags ]
I agree that we have a decent shot at this already. I think that the UI should be more clear in showing the sequence of opened->reviewed->approved->update
In general, I'd like the UI to be alot clearer, smoother, and more intuitive -- I'd like us to get it to the point where someone can look at it, play with it a little, and figure out our harvesting process without having to read the Web pages. :)
[ allow for merging and splitting bug reports ]
This is also being handled informally -- but it takes too much manual work; I'd like to automate it to be smooth.
