Folks -

After Eliot's Miranda's talk last Wednesday, I was struck by how nice it was to see everyone who came and to have a chance to chat about what we're all doing. It's a time when a lot of us are on our own, and I felt it was good for everyone to be reminded how much cool stuff remains to be done, even if jobs may be scarce.

It takes me 3 hours to drive to Palo Alto but, upon reflection, I would do it happily once a month or so just to compare notes, share demos, and enjoy a beer or two with friends. Upon further reflection, I'm wondering if other folks feel the same.

I'm thinking maybe we could line up a room with a projector, meet formally for a couple of hours and then retire to some bar or restaurant for a less formal continuation of the conversations. In order to keep it from being just a neighborhood thing, we could put a bit of effort into sharing any notable results with the Squeak list in general.

How about it?

The next good time for me is the week of April 14, and all weekdays except Friday are good for me. Maybe those interested could reply to me (not the list) with suggestions and preferences for venue and schedule. I will then digest these and send out a summary by Sunday. Any offers of access to a good room with a projector would be especially welcome.

It could be a lot of fun.
