That sounds like a good idea. Does anyone know a firm that would be
appropriate?

Ideally, they would consider this to be a pro-bono case. Maybe a firm
already involved in open source work for commercial entities would be
likelier to consider this reasonable.

Otherwise, they would be "just" competent enough to understand the
issues, and (relatively) cheap. 

Though I'd frame the goal as helping us clear up the license issues
around Squeak, including considering strategies to make Squeak Free
Software. For that, I'd put a few hundred USD where my mouth is.
