Do I hear an echo in here?  I believe Tim, Craig and I (among others) have
'been there, done that' in our previous incarnations.  Given sufficient
motivation, perhaps one of us could be persuaded to 'port' an 
implementation
of Filename we happen to have worked on in the late 90's up to the latest 
Squeak release.
