Hi Dan!

Long time not much hear! :-)

I just looked and someone (you?) corrected the wording there. Now it
looks better.

Definitely so.

It also seems appropriate for projects that may be hardware-related, or designs that do not currently have any code. Lastly, the Swiki makes it really easy to do shared updating of news and pictures and such for evolving projects.

Sure, but originally the idea was that SqueakMap would contain ALL
projects - even projects without code or hardware related. For example,
filling out a download url is NOT mandatory - you can get away with only
a link to a homepage.

Now, granted, in most people's minds SM is a catalog of downloadable
code packages. But IMHO this is just a perception based on the fact that
most packages there are downloadable code.

But I can point you to at least ONE exception proving my point:

:-)

So in short - I would like ALL projects to be registered, the simplest
registration is a name, description and a homepage link pointing into
the Squeak Swiki. And perhaps one or two fields I just forgot.

No, SM isn't IMHO replacing the Swiki. It is hopefully replacing the
Swiki *as a catalog* though.

Personally I think again that SM is better as a catalog. Currently there
are over 300 packages there - and I guess this outnumbers the lists on
the Swiki. Since it is a tool *intended* as a catalog it also gives us
many more interesting features than a Swiki page like say categories.
And this will become even more apparent in SM2. Sidenote: We of course
need to add "search" too...

BUT... if people like to maintain more or less redundant lists on the
Swiki I am not standing in the way. I only hope people register their
projects on SM. And if there is any problem with SM that we need to fix
to make that better/easier then I am all ears.

For example, perhaps we need a few more categories to be able to
categorize projects lacking "installable code".
