[ENH] SMTPonAlternatePort ( [question] SMTPSocket no longer exists )

This changeset needs a major updating before it can be incorporated... 
it makes changes to the class SMTPSocket which no longer exists.  (the 
changeset is from 3.2gamma)

The concept seems good, though, it might be possible to make similar 
changes to SMTPClient instead.
