All new sources are saved normally in the changes file, so the 
"condenseSources"
moves all the new code that was added since Squeak3.0 into the sources 
file (and
removes everything that got replaced). As a lot of stuff was added 
between 3.0 and
3.6, it's pretty normal that the source-file will be larger.

As your question wrt 3.4: You should really consider to upgrade to 3.6
3.4 is over a year old, we fixed a lot of bugs in the meantime. And all 
the
new stuff will not work on 3.4...
