I have this problem under FreeBSD, too. When I inisqueak a new
image, open it, open a new project and jump in this project the
animation from one to another project only begins when I move the
mouse. But when I wait a little bit before moving the mouse, I
jump into the new project without a long animation. It seems that
squeak does its job in the background but the window only gets
repainted when I move the mouse. Could this be?

Unfortunatly I have no solution for this.
