Good questions. To me it is not clear at all why SqueakLand ever forked.
But on the other sides there are efforts to fold the enhancements back into the
main image.

As I understand Michael Ruegger and Ned Konz are working hard at bringing the
Squeakland image Etoy fixes and additions back to the 3.8gamma image.
(and to the packages).

Maybe some things are still missing in 3.8gamma? Or people tryining out things
with 3.8 do not use the most recent one?
