Thanks Bert!  The BFAV2 does in fact install LargeLists as a
prerequisite package.

Would you please post your patch in an email with the same title as the
LargeLists ENH, so that it gets picked up and harvested?  I'm pretty
sure that that ENH is already approved and (I think) close to getting
included in the update stream.

Some package (not sure which, maybe BFAV?) installed the LargeLists 
changeset. Since then, emphasis changes (like bold) in lists are not 
displayed anymore. Everything is plain text. The problem appears to be 
LazyListMorph>>display:atRow:on: which uses the obsolete method 
Canvas>>text:bounds:font:color:.
