Jim,
you should consider one of the alternative 'forget sources' routes for
something like an installation. It's not like you need to be able to do
development work on the image, so there's no need to have the temp
names preserved. Or is there? 

Try using the preferences tool to turn off the warnIfNoChangesFile and
warnIfNosourcesFile and then simply move the changes and sources files
'out of sight' when starting your image. It's supposed to work....
