Yes, I started messing with italics/bold actually before Doug posted -
and I did get it working.
But it required a little incision in the base image, will post it as a
FIX.

So I backed down and used parenthesis as Doug suggested. And this will
... well, a LOT of parenthesis! :) But I think that is just because we
aren't used to the "publish" mechanism yet.

They will go away mostly.
