On Squeakmap, there is now XBase1.0, a reader/writer for files in XBase/dBase format. It is a complete rewrite of an old Squeak goodie with the same name.
I have tested it on windows. I have really no idea whether there can be problems with endian-ness on other platforms (reading numbers and strings from a binary stream) - so please let me know.
