[Janitors] Progress Report for August, 2005 (Task 2 Completed! BFAV2 Now Read-Only)

Thanks to the efforts of Milan Zimmerman and Marco Monteiro the Janitors
Task 2 has been completed. Task 2's goal was to move all open issues
from the BFAV2 database to the Mantis database
( http://bugs.impara.de ). This process has been completed.

With this completed I have now made the BFAV2 database a read-only
system. No new reports or updates will be accepted. All new issues
should be entered into the Mantis database ( http://bugs.impara.de ).
The BFAV2 database will continue to be available for reading at least
through the end of the year. In the coming months I will be discussing
how much longer read access needs to continue to be available.

The Task 1 team members will continue to scan the squeak-dev list for
new reports and manually enter them into the Mantis database. The
number of new issues over the last few months has been quite small so
this has not been a difficult task overall. While we are encouraging
everyone to post all new issues to the Mantis database
( http://bugs.impara.de ) we realize that it may take time for everyone
to get the word. For that reason I expect that Task 1 will continue at
least until the end of this year.

I've done some work to update the Squeak Swiki
( http://minnow.cc.gatech.edu/squeak ) pages that refer to bug reporting
to reference the Mantis database. However I think this should be a team
effort and I've solicited members for such a team

http://discuss.squeakfoundation.org/cgi-bin/ezmlm-browse?list=janitors&cmd=showthread&month=200507&threadid=imlcdalaocanejkllmdo

So far I've had no replies. I would really appreciate one or two more
people to help update all documentation on the web that relates to
reporting and handling bugs, fixes, and enhancements for Squeak and its
packages.

I welcome anyone that has an interest in the harvesting process and
handling of bug/fix/enh reports to informally join the Janitors team by
joining the Janitors mailing list which can be done by sending an email
to

janitors-subscribe at discuss.squeakfoundation.org

I particularly need the input of past harvesters and package owners.
Without the input of those that would use and benefit from the process
the expectation of having a process that works is greatly reduced.
