I am having a bit of a struggle with exception handling. 

 

a)       I can't seem to find a complete guide anywhere just snippets
here and there.

b)       I am using Opera to link my application across win and nix
which works fine as long as the server is up. If the client tries to
connect when the server is down I get one of those horrible errors that
overwrites the main window. I tried using an ifError block which got
completely ignored. How can I trap this error so I can handle it
sensibly.
