Is there any package which helps in generating SQL at a more
conveniant level than concatenating strings?

I'm using the Postgresql interface, but as far as I could see there
are no methods defined to generate the SQL statements itself. It would
be nice to have higher level methods to generate and properly escape
these statements.

Any pointers to the right place would be helpfull.
