In looking at the dependency notification service it seems rather 
inefficient. Basically I sign up as a dependent and I receive every 
notification even if I'm not interested in it. I was wondering if there 
is a better way to receive filtered notifications so that I a) only 
receive notifications for those events I want and b) get called back on 
specific selectors for each notification to stop the imminent 
caseing/switching in the single update:with: callback.

I have an idea how better to do this but I want to make sure that I am 
do not re-invent the wheel here.
