The blue glass ball is symbolizing Earth. Steel strips around it are
symbolizing Internet and Squeak was announced as new environment for it.
Squeak gives power to that all to reach new undreamt-of horizons :-)

I can imagine the steel expressing industrial strength, professional,
engineered
consumer product.
I can imagine the glass expressing visible light, vision, awarness, future,
insight, foresight.
Together they express controled, invisible power for lift.

Can you think of any slight changest to express direction, purpose, reach
for
the moon, international, etc.?

I know you're trying to keep to the BYTE mag cover theme; but, Smalltalk can
carry a much greater payload now. ;) Maybe a dirigible or zeppelin?
