squeak-ev.de just uses smallwiki. As does seaside.st
But as for squeak-ev.de: I wanted to do it, never had the time
to set up a smallwiki, configure it, make a disign, get content
moved over... I did that before for the phpWebsite based
precurser, and it took lots of time, I couldn't do that again.
(but phpWebsite sucks)
So in the end, squeak e.V. just payed (a more symbolic
amount), and it was done.
Same for the OOPSLA Video. You can do a VHS2DVD yourself
("a friend of a friend nows somebody with the equipment")
but ESUG payed and it was done. Or serving the 550MB file.
Of course BT makes it possible, but the 200K/sec Seeder runs on
a Machine payed for by Squeak e.V.
I had the pleasure of beeing invited to a meeting of the PyPy project
this week (to give a squeak demo). They have founding. They could
pay my travel and hotel. And I only got invited because I met someone
at 21C3 where I gave a Squeak demo. I could not have traveled to 21C3
if Squeak e.V./ESUG and SSUG wouldn't have payed the travel....
Maybe this is different for a poor Phd-student like me than for someone
who
earns real money... but I just cant affort to pay either travel or
other stuff,
even if it's cheap (Video conversion did cost maybe 80CHF all in all).
