Hi,

This year, the European Smalltalk User Group (ESUG) international
Smalltalk
joint event will be held in Brussels, Belgium next august. This event
is among
top opportunities to meet experienced Smalltalkers from both industry
and
academia. Don't miss it. Early registration dead-line is july the 20th.

The event includes high quality invited speakers and different
conferences
addressing various Smalltalk related issues (education, development,
marketing,
research, ...). Talks and demos cover multiple Smalltalk dialects
(VisualWorks, VisualAge ST, Squeak, ...).

-The developers conference aims at exposing cutting edge software
technologies.
Web applications, peer-to-peer, XP, VM, hardware, are among the topics
that
will be addressed by this year speakers.

-To get a glimpse about the future of Smalltalk, the research
conference is the
place to go. It gathers research related not only to Smalltalk, but
also to
other dynamical languages for sake of fertilization.

-Management and marketing are discussed during the business conference.
Business people testimony about their experience on Smalltalk uses,
success
stories and market trends.

-One of the main goals of Smalltalk pioneers was using Smalltalk for
teaching
science and math to kids. This tradition is carried on by the education
conference where speakers present experiments and new tools (e.g. EToys
version
2) related to Smalltalk use in the classroom.

-Last, but not least, the program of this year ESUG event encourages
informal
discussions and demos. Before the conferences, you can meet people and
work on
some projects during a three days Camp Smalltalk. And all the week
long, time
slots will be dedicated to informal discussions ("talkusions") during
afternoons. Besides, social events during three evenings are also
opportunities
to interact with people, demo and code while tasting some belgian beer
or fine
chocolate.
