You can help by doing all kind of things. Here is a not exhausting list:
     - write some tests
     - look at enh and fixed send and give feedback
     - write class comments
     - check certain design
     - produce your own library
     - help porting packages you use from one version to the other
     - have fun
     - help answering newbie questions
     - help cleaning the wiki
