I gave up on that with my current laptop. Too much trouble to get it
running, too much trouble to get all my devices hooked up, and with
Cygwin, putty, and some assorted tools life is very bearable these
days under XP.

Plus, Linux doesn't have decent any 16bit photo editing programs.
That's one of the main reasons, the tool chain supporting my digital
camera, I switched to XP.
