Say did anyone open a mantis report on this, not that I know what the  
problem being described here is.

We do attempt to provide some/most/lot/hopeful backwards  
compatibility between the image and the VM.

So if you have an image that works on the mac, but does not work on  
Windows, that in itself is very interesting...
