Magma does it right now.  A "one-click" demonstration of this can be observed
merely by running its test cases in a 3.7-full image.  In the #testProjects
test, client1 saves the following projects and client2 materializes them and
you are then able to enter and use them.

  Building with Squeak
  Fun with Morphic
  Fun With Music
  SmalltalkIntroduction

"Fun with Music" has a sub-project that, IIRC, also gets saved automatically.

Projects were a real pain to support with Magma, but they mostly work.  I have
had limited success doing real-time "collaboration" on the same Morphic desktop
from different computers.  For example, a "shared chalkboard" (a Playfield to
paint on) actually works pretty well.
