Certainly not hostile.

Speaking only for myself, I see Croquet development becoming much  
more of a Bazaar in the future.  Also, I don't see Croquet's current  
Cathedral-ness as being a direct response to perceived difficulties  
innovating in Squeak.  It is the result of many factors, which I  
won't list because I haven't thought about them enough (since I think  
the situation is temporary anyway).
