According to an article on Groklaw, Forgent has dropped all of its pending
cases asserting the patent and promised not to file any more. This is after
the Public Patent Foundation challenged the validity of the patent, and the
US Patent and Trademark Office rejected the patent's broadest claims. So, it
doesn't sound to me like there's any remaining issue with the JPEG patent.
