Hey, I resemble that remark. And, technically, it's PL/I.<s>

I think the philosophy of its design was correct: Make the compiler do the  
work instead of the programmer.

Ultimately such things are less useful than a more minimal language with  
lots of flexibility but I'd still rather use it than C, K&R's snark about  
PL/I's data type conversion aside.
