I bet you can work around it with aliases though.

SELECT c1.ID as c1_ID, c1.FIRST_NAME as c1_FIRST_NAME, d1.FIRST_NAME  
as d1_FIRST_NAME FROM X c1, Y d1 WHERE c1.ID = d1.ID
