What about the function keys? F9 through F12 for example. Many games
have their quick save keys in that region. Not as close to home row as
] on US layouts, but always available without modifiers except for Fn
on notebook keyboards, depending on the settings.

Tablet/finger/pen users would be better off dragging the save button
from the menu to the world regardless of the key chosen.
