I'm getting flashbacks to my first Smalltalk machine... if you were lucky you might have had an NEC Multisynch capable of 800*600 mono back then. In fact I remember buying Eliot one of those to work with an Acorn A500, back in maybe 1987?

Yes, you could do perfectly decent many open window Smalltalk work in that tiny sounding space. 14" diagonal CRT, weighed a ton but at least not the forklift requiring Tektroniz 4406 I had to schlep around on occasion; that was 90+lb for the monitor!
