Same issue on OpenIndiana with openssl 1.0.2/openssl 1.1

Thanks for pointing this out.

A workaround seems to be 

# cd /etc/certs/CA
# rm DST_Root_CA_X3.pem
# svcadm restart ca-certificates

At least the error is not popping up any longer in squeak ...
