A note from the author - an aspect of this UI facility that I never managed to solve is making it possible to open the dialog in a 'collapsed' form with just a label, a text input, a button and an 'open up' button that would expand to the full file browsing form.

IIRC Marcel tried some ideas for this but didn't end up with something shareable. Maybe someone might give it a go as a 25th anniversary gift?
