Jakob is making a very good point here; this isn't about special expertise, or 'professional involvement' etc - it's about caring for Squeak and having fun doing it.

The board mostly has to ensure there is some infrastructure to provide the basics of the community - mailing lists, website(s), build & integration services, stuff like that. Sometimes there is even a money problem to solve. Fairly often - because the board often consists of people actively developing in Squeak - we do actually debate technical points, but that really isn't the purpose.

And if you want to help maintain the Squeak world but don't feel like being on the board, there are plenty of things always in need of time & effort. Do you know server wrangling? Volunteer to help the boxadmins team. Are you good with worms? Err, words? Improve the swiki, or make youtube educational content to spread the weird!
