The kerning in the last released version should be ok in HintingNone mode; but it is incorrect in HintingLight mode.
I fixed this in FreeType-tween.356.mcz which you can get from SqueakSource. 
 
After loading, switch to HintingLight mode in the Preference browser. (If you already have HintingLight selected, then switch to HintingNone, and then back to HintingLight - this will clear any caches).

Would be nice to get the kerning sorted, though doubtless would be harder work! ('r's at the end seemd particularly prone).
