in both cases, $PATH contains /usr/bin, which contains a link to the
Python VM binary. In the "start from command line" version, $PATH also
contains /Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/Current/bin,
but the python file in there is also just a link, like the python in
/usr/bin.

Why is it a problem to execute one link, and none to execute another?
Both are lrwxr-xr-x.
