[Vm-dev] About Cocoa VMs

Panther added an odd req'ment, IIRC: one had to have a FireWire jack to install it (memory may fail, this might have been Tiger, not Panther.) It was pretty obvious that Apple was phasing out Macs older than FireWire. They seem to do this with both software and hardware on a pretty regular basis. When I was doing service work on Macs, I remember noticing that it was on a fairly regular schedule of X years, but I can't remember what small number X was.
