[OFF-TOPIC] Word from Kyoto (was Re: [Vm-dev] SVN email commit notifications)

Folks, forgive me for being an email philanthropist. Ian, who is alive and
well, recommends this link to folks who want to help with the situation. He
probably wouldn't spam the list with it, but I suppose such a social
transgression is what I'm here to do.

He pointed me at the below link, which reduces the barrier to contribution
about as far as it'll go, recommends the Japanese Red Cross, and stresses
that you *don't* want your local chapter, but the Japanese Red Cross:

Since a few people on the list have expressed a desire to help out, I
figured I'd step right over the off-topic issue and just click send on my
way to get the contingency card out of the safe.
