[Vm-dev] mmap'ing terrabyte uncommitted memory

I was reading this thread [1] about slow speed of Haskell on Windows
Susbsytem for Linux which mentions GHC & Golang pre-allocate very large
uncommitted contiguous memory of 1TB & 0.5TB [2] respectively - and
wondering the benefits of that and how it might relate to opensmalltalk-VM?
