Hi folks,
I've just started a $$ Google AdWords campaign and would like to receive feedback when you see www.squeak.org appearing in a Goole ad (wording, ad position, whatever your impression, please let me know).
I would appreciate if you DO*NOT*CLICK*THE*AD, because it costs me $$ per click, but if you cannot resist feel free to do so ;-)
/Klaus
Great!
I've just tried smalltalk, smalltalk tutorial, squeak, and squeak tutorial. I saw no ads.
Thank you for the feedback, Matthias.
No, Google does *not* show ads according to any logical rules. They also do not show ads for so-called "phrases", unless you can and do invent such combinations as "smalltalk tutorial" and "squeak tutorial" in advance ! !!
But I have just entered both you phrases, they will show up in the stats in 1-3 hours from now.
While we are here, some figures at the time of this writing (campaign started 2.5 hours ago):
- total impressions: 577 - total clicks: 3 - total deactivated keywords (by them, no ads show up) but, they charged clicks anyways at highest CPC: 1 - total complaints filed with them (they acked receipt): 3 - total people found with similiar complaints: too many :(
/Klaus
P.S. smalltalk as keyword and squeak as keyword need no ads (at least none payed by me), they turn up at the most prominent place in the Google result page ;-)

Google's hiring Smalltalk programmers and they run ads on my keywords 8-) Try it yourself:
After half a dozen or so of manual refreshs, you will see their Smalltalk ad:
Smalltalk at Google? Dig SmallTalk & object oriented design? Get a Java XP job at Google www.google.com/jobs/
I run my squeak.org campaign now for 36 hours, during which their CPC bid was raised from pennies to bucks, between a factor of 50 and 100. My pockets are not deep enough to compete against Google's own ads, sorry ;-)
Nevertheless, running this campaign was quite an experience :)

Actually, It looks to me like they want Java programmers - although they seem to recognize that Smalltalkers grok OO better than most.
